People close to National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir are preparing to publicly back candidates inside Likud in an effort to influence the party’s primary results, if and when they are held, Army Radio reported Thursday. The aim is to help right-wing candidates whose views are closer to those of Otzma Yehudit secure spots on the Likud Knesset list.
According to the report, the support would include campaign videos, participation in the candidates’ events, and direct appeals to Likud party members. The move is intended to shape the future makeup of the party slate ahead of the next election.
Among the names mentioned as possible beneficiaries is Knesset member Tali Gottlieb, described as one of the more prominent candidates likely to receive backing. Other figures cited as potential recipients of Ben Gvir’s public support were Minister Israel Katz and Minister May Golan.
The report said the effort is part of a broader push to influence the ideological balance of Likud’s future list, in line with the positions of Otzma Yehudit.
