Fenerbahce made a major push in the transfer market overnight, with European reports saying the Turkish champions closed three signings within about an hour as they try to regain the EuroLeague title next season after failing to repeat their 2024/25 success. The moves come as the club led by Sarunas Jasikevicius continues an aggressive roster rebuild after winning the Turkish league.
The biggest development involved Shane Larkin, 33, who is set to remain in Istanbul and sign with Fenerbahce for two years despite earlier plans for him to move to Red Star Belgrade. Anadolu Efes had agreed a deal with Red Star under which the Serbian club would cover half of Larkin’s salary, or $1.9 million out of $3.8 million for next season, but Larkin refused the move. He also reportedly turned down a Dubai offer worth $10 million over two years and agreed to give up all the salary Efes owed him, clearing the way for the cross-town switch.
Larkin, who was limited by injury last season to 12 EuroLeague games, averaged 15.3 points and 4.2 assists. Before his long spell at Efes, he played for Baskonia in 2016/17, returned to the NBA for a season with the Boston Celtics, then came back to Europe and won two EuroLeague titles with Efes.
Fenerbahce also reached agreements with forward Shane Larkin? [No] The other confirmed names are forward Shavon Shields, who left Milan after six years and averaged 12.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists last season, and forward Brockton Key, a key Valencia contributor in the run to the EuroLeague Final Four and the title. In addition, reports say Marcus Bingham, Trent Forrest and Ignas Sargiunas had already agreed to join the club, further strengthening Jasikevicius’ deep roster.
