Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold turned himself in to Florida authorities after months of investigation and was arrested overnight between Wednesday and Thursday in connection with an alleged armed robbery and kidnapping case. Hillsborough County prosecutors say he now faces multiple felony charges that could bring a life sentence if he is convicted.
According to the indictment, Arnold was the main planner and coordinator of a violent robbery that took place on February 4 in Tampa. Investigators say three men were struck with a gun, held at gunpoint, and robbed inside an apartment they had been lured to enter. Six other suspects have already been arrested in the case, and prosecutors allege Arnold directed the others involved.
The investigation began after Arnold himself complained to police that property worth more than $250,000 had been stolen from an Airbnb he had rented in the Largo area. He believed two of the three alleged victims were connected to the theft, but investigators later concluded they had no link to it. Prosecutors say that after filing the complaint, Arnold decided to organize a revenge operation against those he thought were responsible.
Arnold is charged with four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery. Prosecutors said they will ask the court to keep him in custody until trial. His lawyers denied all accusations, saying he “categorically denies any involvement” and that the case relies mainly on testimony from convicted criminals seeking sentence reductions by implicating others. The Detroit Lions said they are aware of the developments but would not comment on details because of the ongoing legal process.
