The IDF said it killed Adam Muhammad Ibrahim Abu Hdaid, a senior commander in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad weapons-production network in the Gaza Strip, in an airstrike on Tuesday in the Khan Younis area. The military described the strike as precise and said it was carried out two days ago.
According to the IDF, Abu Hdaid was responsible for producing and supplying weapons to the group's military wing. The army said he took part in different stages of the production system and that the infrastructure he led was working to manufacture additional weapons.
The IDF said Abu Hdaid posed an immediate threat to Israeli forces and to civilians in Israel. It said his elimination was part of an ongoing operational campaign.
The military also said forces under Southern Command are deployed in the area in line with the agreement in place, and that they will continue operating to remove any threat. The announcement was accompanied by footage of the strike.
