The internal race in Israel’s Democrats party is heating up as the candidate list closes, and one of the most prominent faces of the recent protest movement is taking a formal step into party politics. High-tech entrepreneur and protest figure Moshe Radman announced on Thursday that he has submitted his candidacy papers for the united party’s primaries.
The primary election is scheduled for July 20. Radman described the move as official in a post to his followers on social media, saying, "This is it, now it is official." He added that he had filed his candidacy "with reverence and trepidation" and said he hopes "always to be worthy of serving the great mission of my generation, to rebuild Israel."
Radman is widely identified with the wave of public protests in recent years, and his entry marks a notable transition from activism into an organized political contest. His announcement came as the party’s internal election process reached a decisive stage with the slate of contenders being finalized.
