Democrats Party Primaries Set List with Pink, Ronen, and Redman Securing Key Spots

The Democrats party concluded its digital primaries on Monday, with over 112,000 members voting to determine the candidate list for the upcoming Knesset elections. Party leader Yair Golan retained the top spot, followed by sitting MKs Naama Lazimi, Gilad Kariv, and Efrat Rayten in the next three positions.

Significant results included Yair (Yaya) Pink, a graduate of the Kibbutz Religious Yeshiva and founder of the social initiative Lobby 99, who secured the fifth place on the list. Pink previously ran with the Labor party and held the eighth spot in the 21st Knesset elections. Omri Ronen, affiliated with "Brothers in Arms," earned the seventh position after a strong campaign boost. Moshe Redman, supported by new members from the anti-government protest movement, took ninth place. Former Meretz MKs Gabi Lasuki and Michal Rozin claimed the fourth and eighth spots respectively, maintaining their influence within the united party.

A notable upset was the fall of social activist Naor Narkis, known for controversial remarks against Hesder yeshiva students and for filming inside the Shas faction room. Narkis landed only in 22nd place, far from realistic election spots. Party leader Golan publicly reprimanded Narkis, emphasizing that discriminatory statements against entire communities would no longer be tolerated.

The finalized top ten list is: Yair Golan (1), Naama Lazimi (2), Gilad Kariv (3), Efrat Rayten (4), Yaya Pink (5), Gabi Lasuki (6), Omri Ronen (7), Michal Rozin (8), Moshe Redman (9), and Somaya Bashir (10). Polls suggest the Democrats could win 9 to 11 seats, making these prime list positions highly contested. The results highlight an internal struggle between veteran party members and newcomers from the anti-government protests.
