As July approaches, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to arrive in Britain together for the first time in four years. While that has stirred excitement, reports say the royal family is anything but relaxed, especially King Charles, Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Earlier this week, it was reported that King Charles offered Harry and his family a stay at one of the royal estates. Harry has not yet accepted, although Charles was said to have already arranged security for the Sussexes, with the details still unclear. It was also reported that Charles and Harry agreed the king would meet his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, but Markle is apparently not part of that plan.
Now, a source close to the Prince and Princess of Wales says William and Kate want no contact with Harry and Meghan. The source said their door is not just closed, but “locked with a bolt.” Royal expert Dan Wootton told Fox News that William and Kate do not want a reconciliation and that “there is no chance” Harry will meet his brother and family. He added that Harry mainly wants his father to spend time with Archie and Lilibet and is pushing for that.
Another source near the Waleses said their position has not changed since January 2020 and that they have no intention of meeting Harry and his family. The source also said Charles’s invitation was his own business and would not affect the Waleses. The rift, the article notes, began even before Harry and Meghan’s wedding, worsened after details of a dispute between Kate and Meghan leaked, and deepened further after Harry’s memoir Spare, in which he accused William of being violent. Harry last tried to reach out in February, according to Omid Scobie, but William would not agree to any mediated conversation.
