The Israel Defense Forces said it identified, a short time ago, an armed militant cell operating near IDF troops in the security zone on the Ali al-Taher ridge in southern Lebanon. After the detection and a rapid operational response, the forces struck the militants north of the security zone in order to remove what the army described as an immediate threat.
The IDF said the militants had been seen close to forces deployed in the area, and the attack was carried out immediately after the sighting. According to the army, the purpose of the strike was to prevent danger to Israeli troops on the ground.
In its statement, the IDF said it will continue acting to remove immediate threats and will not allow Hezbollah to harm Israeli civilians or its forces. The army also attached a photo of one of the armed militants who was identified near the troops.
