The Israel Defense Forces said Tuesday morning that it killed armed militants in Lebanon who approached its troops, despite the ceasefire that was imposed on Israel through the United States and Iran. The strike took place in the security zone on the Ali al-Taher ridge, north of that area.
According to the IDF spokesman, troops identified a cell of armed militants operating near IDF forces and quickly closed the circle before striking them in order to remove the threat. The army said the action was taken because the militants posed an immediate danger to soldiers.
In its statement, the IDF said it would continue acting to eliminate immediate threats and would not allow Hezbollah to harm Israeli civilians or Israeli forces. The report also said that under the surrender agreement, as described in the article, Israel is not allowed to initiate killings of militants in Lebanon and may only act to remove a threat to its troops.
