Flydubai Jet Diverts Amid Pilot Brawl, Emergency Signals

A Flydubai flight carrying approximately 180 passengers, including Israeli citizens, en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv on September 30, triggered emergency alerts after takeoff. Initially, the crew transmitted code 7700, indicating a general emergency, followed by code 7500, signifying hijacking. In response, the Israeli Air Force scrambled fighter jets, and the situation was escalated to the country's leadership. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held urgent consultations with Defense Minister Israel Katz and Transportation Minister Miri Regev.

Reports suggest the Boeing 737 MAX 8 descended from 30,000 to 15,000 feet, then turned over Jordan and headed towards Saudi Arabia, eventually making an emergency landing in Tabuk. The hijacking scenario was later dismissed.

According to Associated Press, no passengers were harmed, and the exact cause of the incident is under investigation. Israeli media, however, reported a fight in the cockpit between the Russian captain and the Ukrainian co-pilot, which may have led to the activation of the emergency signals. One pilot reportedly lost consciousness, and there are unconfirmed reports of a stabbing. Passengers described hearing shouts from the cockpit and seeing blood, though these details remain unverified. A theory that a pilot intentionally tried to crash the plane is also unconfirmed.

This incident follows another aviation event the previous day, where an El Al flight from Tel Aviv to Miami returned to Israel due to a technical malfunction.
