Teenager Critically Injured in Holon Explosion, Criminal Motive Suspected

A 15-year-old boy sustained critical injuries on Monday, September 28, following an explosion on Sanhedrin Street in the Jessy Cohen neighborhood of Holon. Paramedics from Magen David Adom (MDA) provided initial treatment and transported him to Wolfson Hospital. Initial reports suggest a grenade was thrown into a home, but it later emerged that the explosion was caused by a planted explosive device. The teenager, who was reportedly in an adjacent apartment, was injured by the blast wave. Authorities are investigating the possibility of a criminal terrorist act, noting that a man known to law enforcement resides in the affected building. MDA received the initial call at 12:11 PM and dispatched paramedics to the scene. "We found a teenager with signs of severe injuries on his body," said MDA paramedic Noam Barzani. "He was conscious. We provided him with emergency care, placed him in a mobile intensive care unit, and transported him to the hospital in serious condition." Police, including bomb disposal experts, are investigating the incident. Holon City Council member Nisan Zakaria described the Jessy Cohen neighborhood as generally quiet and expressed concern about rising crime nationwide, stating, "The police are going through difficult days, and this affects all of us." The incident follows a similar event on September 27, where a 16-year-old girl was moderately injured by a grenade thrown into a home in Ma'alot Tarshiha, an incident also believed to be criminal in nature.
