Israel Revokes Diplomatic Status for Dutch Representatives in Ramallah
Israel has informed the Dutch Embassy in Israel that its diplomats operating in Ramallah must return their Israeli-issued diplomatic documentation within seven days. According to the Foreign Ministry, these documents grant the diplomats immunities and rights that will expire upon the deadline.
The decision by Foreign Minister G Gideon Saar is a direct response to a Dutch order that took effect last week, prohibiting the import and trade of products originating from the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights. The Israeli Foreign Ministry stated that if the Netherlands wishes to continue representing its interests with the Palestinians, it can do so from within the Palestinian Authority's territories.
This action follows a previous measure taken by Israel against the Dutch representation. Last month, Saar decided to remove the Dutch from the International Support Center for Gaza, located in Kiryat Gat, a decision the Foreign Ministry confirmed has been implemented.
