Israel Revokes Diplomatic Status for Dutch Representatives in Ramallah
Israel has demanded that Dutch diplomats working in Ramallah return their Israeli-issued diplomatic documents within seven days, after which their privileges and immunity will be revoked. The decision, announced by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on social media platform X on September 27, is a direct response to sanctions imposed by the Netherlands. These sanctions, which took effect on September 22, prohibit the import and sale of goods originating from Israeli settlements in Judea and Samaria, East Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights.
Saar stated that if the Netherlands wishes to maintain ties with the Palestinians, they should do so from within the Palestinian Authority's territory, not from within Israel. He further recalled a previous incident where Israel excluded a Dutch delegation from the International Coordination Center for Gaza in Kiryat Gat, also in retaliation for actions by the Dutch government.
"Israel will not ignore steps aimed at harming it," Saar declared, adding that any country acting against Israel in a unilateral and hostile manner would lose influence and significance in the region. He also accused the Dutch government of insufficient efforts in combating antisemitism and incitement within its borders.
