Dozens of Israelis Stranded in Remote Nepal Village by Landslides

Dozens of Israelis are trapped in the remote village of Samagaun, situated at an altitude of approximately 3,500 meters in Nepal's Manaslu region of the Himalayas. The travelers have been cut off since last night due to severe weather conditions and landslides that have blocked all access routes. Israeli travelers reported that electricity has been cut off in the village, and several rockfalls occurred near their accommodations overnight. One traveler described hearing powerful sounds resembling earth collapses every few hours, noting that the group includes Israelis, foreign tourists, and local residents.

Travelers stated that numerous roads and bridges in the area are now impassable, severely limiting the possibility of leaving the village by land. Insurance companies and local tourism agencies have begun efforts to organize an evacuation, but at this stage, evacuating all stranded individuals is not feasible.

In the early morning hours, landslides occurred above Samagaun following days of heavy rainfall, waking hundreds of travelers and staff members in the village. As of morning, there were no reports of injuries in the village. The heavy rains and resulting floods and landslides have caused at least 19 deaths in several areas across Nepal and neighboring India.
