Israel Forward Expelled After Mock Gun Celebration
Israeli national team forward Sayed Abu Farq was ejected from a match against Austria on Thursday after celebrating a goal by mimicking a shooting motion with a corner flag. The incident occurred during Israel's 3-1 loss to Austria in the UEFA Nations League. Abu Farq, 20, scored Israel's equalizing goal in the 55th minute with a header. After scoring, he ran to the corner flag, grabbed it, and simulated firing a rifle. The referee had already shown Abu Farq a yellow card four minutes prior, and the subsequent goal celebration earned him a second yellow, resulting in a red card and Israel playing with ten men. Austria regained the lead in the 90th minute through Philipp Mwene and added a third goal in stoppage time via Sasa Kalajdzic. The match took place at the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz.
