Netanyahu Departs for UN Address, Brief US Visit
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu departed Israel early Thursday morning, around 4:00 AM, from Nevatim Air Force Base for the United States. He is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday evening at 9:00 PM Israel time. The visit is exceptionally brief, with no overnight stay planned.
Netanyahu traveled on the "Wing of Zion" aircraft. Unlike his usual practice, he did not make a pre-flight statement to the press. Following his arrival, he is expected to proceed directly to the UN building, conduct his scheduled meetings, and then return to the aircraft for his flight back to Israel. The exact landing location has not been officially disclosed.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, Netanyahu is slated to meet with the presidents of Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Panama, and Ethiopia. He will also meet with the vice president of Colombia and the prime ministers of Greece, Slovenia, and Papua New Guinea.
The Prime Minister's Office also stated that additional leaders had requested meetings with Netanyahu. However, due to the tight schedule and the need to return to Israel before the onset of the Sukkot holiday, only some of these requests could be accommodated.
