IDF and Shin Bet Eliminate Hamas Finance Chief in Khan Younis Strike

The Israeli military and Shin Bet confirmed on Thursday the elimination of Hamas finance department head, Muhammad Abu Alwan, in an operation in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.

Abu Alwan, described as a central figure in Hamas's financial network, was targeted to neutralize an immediate security threat. He had been active in the terror group for about a decade and was responsible for budgeting all of Hamas's military and administrative branches in Gaza. During the recent conflict, he directly oversaw the transfer of over one billion shekels to fund the organization's operational and military activities, aiding Hamas's efforts to maintain control and survive the fighting.

Israeli forces noted that Abu Alwan had recently been vigorously working to rebuild Hamas's military and administrative capabilities, systematically violating the ceasefire. His elimination is considered a significant blow to the terror group's financial lifeline.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz praised the IDF and Shin Bet for the precise operation. They emphasized that the campaign against Hamas leaders and infrastructure will continue, stating, "We continue to pursue Hamas commanders and operatives, to strike its funding sources, and to destroy its terror infrastructure." Netanyahu and Katz concluded by declaring, "We will not allow Hamas to rebuild its strength and will not stop until Hamas is no more in Gaza."
