Employee Arrested for Allegedly Planting Listening Devices in Northern Israel Local Council Office
Israeli police announced Wednesday the arrest of a 65-year-old employee from the village of Jish on suspicion of planting listening devices in the office of a local council head in the Northern District. Police stated they received a complaint in recent weeks from a local authority in the north regarding suspected installation of a secret listening device. A covert investigation was launched, and evidence corroborating the suspicion was found in cooperation with the local authority.
As the investigation moved to its public phase Tuesday, police raided the local authority's offices shortly after a meeting concluded. The suspect was apprehended, and evidence linking him to the suspicions was found in his possession. Police are set to request an extension of his detention from the Tiberias Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
