Local Council Worker Arrested for Alleged Wiretapping Device Installation
Police in northern Israel arrested a 65-year-old resident of Gush Halav yesterday on suspicion of installing a listening device in the office of a local authority head. The arrest followed an investigation initiated several weeks ago after the local council reported suspicions of a wiretapping device being placed within its offices.
During a covert investigation, law enforcement officers gathered evidence that strengthened their suspicions. Yesterday, police raided the council offices, leading to the apprehension of the suspect. Evidence found in the suspect's possession reportedly links him to the alleged act.
The police are expected to request an extension of the suspect's detention at the Magistrate's Court in Tiberias today.
