Israel Foils Major Yom Kippur Terror Attack Plot

Israeli security forces successfully thwarted a planned mass-casualty shooting attack that was intended to take place during the Yom Kippur holiday. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted multiple counter-terrorism operations across Judea and Samaria during the solemn day, preventing the attack, according to the Ynet news portal.

In Kabatiya, elite Duvdevan unit soldiers apprehended two individuals suspected of belonging to the Menashe Brigade's terrorist cell. The army stated that these suspects were preparing an armed attack in the immediate future. Concurrently, the IDF carried out raids in other areas of Judea and Samaria.

In the village of Biddu, within the Binyamin Brigade's area of responsibility, soldiers cordoned off a suspect's home. As part of the same operation, searches were conducted at approximately 100 sites, around 90 local residents were interrogated, and a hunting rifle was discovered. Near Beit Ur al-Tahta, Duvdevan fighters uncovered an underground workshop containing a lathe for weapon manufacturing, two "Carlo" submachine guns, and other armaments.

In the Menashe Brigade sector, a paratrooper patrol was active, questioning suspects, arresting wanted individuals, and confiscating materials for explosive device construction. Additional raids in the Ephraim Brigade area involved interrogating over 80 people as part of security threat prevention measures.

Earlier, IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir visited the site of a previous attack near Neve Tzuf in the Binyamin Brigade's area. After assessing the situation, he ordered a blockade of the area, continued searches for potential accomplices of the attacker, and the sealing and subsequent demolition of the attacker's home. Zamir emphasized that IDF soldiers continue their duties and ensure citizen safety even during Yom Kippur, when Israelis are fasting and attending prayers.
