Maccabi Tel Aviv's Million-Euro Offer Rejected by Hagi

Maccabi Tel Aviv, the Israeli cup holders, reportedly made a significant offer to Romanian midfielder Ianis Hagi, son of legendary player Gheorghe Hagi. The 27-year-old, currently playing for Alanyaspor, was offered a contract worth approximately one million euros to join the Israeli club.

However, Hagi declined the offer, according to Romanian media reports. The primary reason cited for his refusal is a prior verbal agreement he has with French club Marseille. Hagi is said to be on the verge of a move to Marseille in January, with reports suggesting a 90% chance of the transfer materializing.

Romanian outlet "Fanatik" described Maccabi Tel Aviv's offer as a "super contract" and a "very big contract," indicating the substantial financial package presented. Despite the lucrative proposal from Israel, Hagi's commitment to Marseille, described as one of France's major clubs, led to the collapse of the potential deal.

Hagi began his career at the academy named after his father and has previously played for clubs including Fiorentina, Genk, Rangers, and Alaves. He has earned 54 caps and scored eight goals for the Romanian national team.
