Maccabi Tel Aviv's Big Offer Rejected by Hagi Amid Marseille Agreement
Romanian media reports that Maccabi Tel Aviv submitted a significant contract offer to midfielder Ianis Hagi, but the player ultimately refused.
Hagi, 27, reportedly turned down an offer worth one million euros from the Israeli club. The reason for his refusal, according to reports in Romanian outlet "Fanatik", is a verbal agreement he has already reached with French club Marseille.
The midfielder is expected to join Marseille in January, with the transfer considered 90% likely. "Fanatik" described Maccabi's offer as a 'super contract' but stated that Hagi's prior agreement with Marseille led to the collapse of the Israeli deal.
Hagi, son of Romanian football legend Gheorghe Hagi, has had previous stints with clubs including Fiorentina, Genk, Rangers, and Alavés. He has earned 54 caps and scored eight goals for the Romanian national team.
