Maccabi Tel Aviv's Million-Euro Offer Rejected by Star Player

Maccabi Tel Aviv, enjoying a perfect start to the season with five wins from five games, has been active in strengthening its squad. Behind the scenes, however, a significant transfer deal involving Romanian midfielder Ianis Hagi, son of football legend Gheorghe Hagi, has been revealed.

The Israeli club reportedly offered Hagi, currently playing for Alanyaspor, a "super contract" worth approximately one million euros. Despite the substantial offer, the 27-year-old playmaker decided to turn down the deal.

According to Romanian media outlet Fanatik, Hagi rejected Maccabi Tel Aviv's lucrative offer because he has already reached a preliminary agreement with French powerhouse Marseille. The report suggests there is a 90% chance he will join Marseille during the January transfer window.

Fanatik explained that the transfer fell through because Hagi had already committed to Marseille, a major club in France, making their significant effort to sign him a priority over the Israeli offer. Hagi, who began his career in his father's academy in Romania, has previously played for notable European clubs including Fiorentina, Genk, Rangers, and Alaves. He is also a key player for the Romanian national team, with 54 appearances and eight goals.
