Romanian Winger Andrei Cordea Rejects Maccabi Tel Aviv Offer

Maccabi Tel Aviv, seeking to strengthen its winger position, has reportedly been turned down by Romanian player Andrei Cordea. According to Romanian outlet Noloo Varga, the 27-year-old winger from CFR Cluj rejected an offer that would have paid him 600,000 euros per season. Cordea's agent stated that the player did not want to leave Cluj just for the sake of moving, emphasizing Cordea's strong character and past experiences. The offer from Maccabi Tel Aviv reportedly came just before the transfer window closed, with the club willing to pay up to one million euros annually, but Cordea preferred to stay with his current team.

Cordea, who plays on the right wing, has scored four goals this season. Last year, he recorded 15 goals and five assists across all competitions as Cluj finished third in the league and was eliminated in the Europa Conference League qualifying playoffs. The report notes that the only foreign player in the Israeli Premier League earning a comparable salary is James Tavernier of Maccabi Tel Aviv, who joined the club on a free transfer. Dia Saba, during his last season in Israel, was also among the highest earners in the league with a salary of 600,000 euros per season.
