Binyamin Regional Council Head Vows Resilience After Attack Near Spring

Israel Gantz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, visited the scene of a severe attack near the Ein Riyal spring close to the settlement of Neve Tzuf in the Binyamin region. Gantz expressed outrage, stating that a terrorist armed with an M16 rifle opened fire on residents who had come to the spring to immerse themselves ahead of Yom Kippur.

Despite the difficult circumstances, Gantz conveyed a message of strength and determination, declaring, "No one will drive us out of here." He confirmed that Israeli security forces, including the IDF, police, Shin Bet, and Border Police, are actively pursuing the terrorist who fled the scene on foot and remains at large in the area.

Gantz acknowledged the severity of the incident, noting that a man in his 30s was critically injured and evacuated in serious to critical condition after receiving initial medical treatment and resuscitation efforts at the scene. The attack occurred when the assailant arrived by car, exited with a long rifle, and fired upon civilians at the spring.

Looking ahead, Gantz expressed optimism, stating, "This is a very difficult event, but we are strong and will overcome it. With God's help, during Sukkot, this place will be full of hikers. No one will drive us out of here."
