Netanyahu Vows Retribution After Deadly West Bank Shooting

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a reinforced security presence, closures, and the demolition of a terrorist's home following a fatal shooting attack in the Benjamin region that killed a 30-year-old man on Sunday, the eve of Yom Kippur. "We will settle the score with everyone," Netanyahu declared, vowing that "no terrorist is immune, not even those who assisted them." He stated that security forces are actively pursuing the assailant and noted that Israeli forces had killed another terrorist attempting an attack in Samaria.

Netanyahu extended condolences to the victim's family, saying, "On behalf of all citizens of Israel, my wife and I send our deepest condolences to the family of the victim of the attack and share in their heavy sorrow."

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant echoed the sentiment, sending condolences and expressing confidence that the IDF would swiftly apprehend the attacker. He also praised soldiers at the Ganim checkpoint who neutralized one terrorist and captured another, preventing a further attack. Gallant wished Israeli soldiers and citizens a good end to the fasting period.

President Isaac Herzog also addressed the attack, stating, "The murderous terrorist attack in Benjamin on the eve of Yom Kippur, as the people of Israel gather for the holy day. I bow my head to the memory of the victim, share the deep sorrow of his family and community, and pray for the recovery of the wounded. Even on this holy eve, we say with a clear voice: Terror will not break us and will not shake our spirit. We will stand against it together, united, determined, and full of faith. A good final sealing."

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir commented that the news of the resident's murder was unbearable and expressed solidarity with the family. He asserted that the right of settlers to live outweighs the right of Palestinian Authority residents to travel on roads, and called for the death penalty for terrorists.

Member of Knesset Avi Maoz of the Noam party stated that "Arab terror does not stop for a moment" and that only full Israeli sovereignty in the West Bank would end it.
