Benjamin Regional Council Head Vows Resilience After West Bank Shooting Attack
Israel Gantz, head of the Benjamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, visited the scene of a shooting attack near the settlement of Neve Tzuf on Sunday. The attack left a man in his 30s critically wounded.
Gantz described the incident, stating that a terrorist armed with an M16 rifle opened fire on residents who had come to a spring for ritual immersion ahead of Yom Kippur. "One of the residents was very seriously injured and is being evacuated to the hospital," Gantz said.
Security forces, including the IDF, police, Shin Bet, and Border Police, are conducting an extensive manhunt for the assailant, who fled the scene and is believed to be in the area. Checkpoints have been established, and forces are searching the region.
"This is a very difficult event, but we are strong and will get through this too," Gantz added. "God willing, this place will be full of hikers during Sukkot. No one will drive us out of here."
