Hamada Shemesh, the aunt of Sgt. Lior Kababia, who was killed in the commander’s tank disaster in Lebanon, described him in an interview with ynet as someone impossible to sum up. “It is so hard to summarize him. Lior was heart, full of light. He was such a special boy,” she said.
Shebech said Kababia had often spoken about wanting to tell his future children that he did not spend his life doing office work, but rather protecting them. She quoted him as saying, “I want to tell my children that I did not shred paper, I kept them safe.”
She also said her own son followed in Kababia’s footsteps. According to her, he completed his training and was due to enter Lebanon on the very same day Kababia fell. She said he entered a few hundred meters from the closest point possible so he could say goodbye to him.
