The IDF has cleared for publication that Sergeant Major Liav Kababia, 20, from Hod HaSharon, was killed in combat in southern Lebanon. Kababia served as an armor fighter in the 52nd Battalion of the IDF's 401st Division, known as the “Iron Tracks” formation.
He was killed in the same incident in which Sergeant Major Yoav Klein, Lieutenant Colonel Dor Gdalia Ben Shimon, and another fighter whose name has not yet been released also fell. The army did not provide further details about the circumstances of the tank accident, but the incident is being described as a battalion commander’s tank disaster.
The publication of Kababia’s name means the IDF has now officially identified another casualty from the same deadly event in southern Lebanon. One additional name remains under gag order until it is approved for release.
