IDF Names Third Soldier Killed in Lebanon Tank Disaster
The IDF on Saturday night cleared for publication the name of Staff Sgt. Liav Kbabia, who was killed in a tank disaster in southern Lebanon. He is the third of four soldiers who died in the incident to be officially named.
The deadly tank tragedy happened on Friday around 12:20 a.m. Alongside Kbabia, the army said the other named fatalities were Lt. Col. Dor Gadalia Ben Shimon and Staff Sgt. Yoav Klein. The name of the fourth soldier has still not been released.
The IDF said the unnamed soldier’s identity will be published only after his family has been notified and gives its consent. Military officials said the circumstances of the incident are under a broad operational investigation, which has not yet been completed.
When the inquiry is finished, the findings will be presented transparently to the families of the fallen soldiers, according to the army.
