The IDF on Friday allowed the publication of the name of the fourth soldier killed in the so-called battalion commander’s tank disaster in southern Lebanon, identifying him as Staff Sgt. Nave Chabashush, 20, from the settlement of Geva Binyamin, Adam. He was killed along with the commander of Battalion 52, Lt. Col. Dor Gedalia Ben Shimon, and two other soldiers, Staff Sgt. Liyav Kababiya, 20, of Hod HaSharon, and Staff Sgt. Yoav Klein, 21, of Herzliya.
The incident took place around 12:20 a.m. in the village of Tbinin, when a suspicious target struck the commander’s tank in which the four soldiers were inside. All four were killed. Earlier, the IDF had already cleared the names of the other fallen soldiers, while Ben Shimon was identified as a 32-year-old from Kibbutz Beit Hashita who left behind a wife and two daughters.
Chabashush served as a tank commander in the 401st Brigade, having recently completed a tank commanders’ course, and had planned to attend officers’ training. He grew up in Adam, studied in the local education system, and later attended the pre-military mechina at Beit Yatir. His father, Chaim, who serves as deputy commander of reserve brigade Yiftach (11), said Nave was deeply loved and always ready to help others, calling him "a good child" and "an angel who walked around here with us."
According to his family, Chabashush spent the past months fighting in Lebanon and was proud of his role as a soldier and commander in the armored corps. He is the third fallen soldier from Geva Binyamin and the 64th from the Binyamin Regional Council since the war began. He is survived by his parents Chaim and Einav, his sisters Noam and Nasia, his extended family, friends, and a grieving community.
