The IDF announced Sunday morning the name of the fourth soldier killed in the tank disaster in southern Lebanon, during fighting with Hezbollah. He was Staff Sgt. Naveh Havshush, 20, from Geva Binyamin, a tank soldier in Battalion 52 of the 401st “Iron Tracks” Division. His family was notified by IDF officers.
Havshush was killed in the same incident that claimed the lives of Lt. Col. Dor Gedalya Ben Shimon, the commander of Battalion 52, and Staff Sgts. Yoav Klein and Liav Kavbiva. The military described it as one of the most serious incidents to hit armored forces in recent days, with four soldiers killed in a single event.
His death comes as heavy fighting continues in southern Lebanon, where Israeli forces are operating against Hezbollah terror infrastructure. The battles are taking place alongside political discussions about a possible ceasefire, while the IDF is strongly opposing such a move at this stage.
The names of the other three dead were released in stages: Ben Shimon on Friday, and Klein and Kavbiva on Saturday night. The report also said there is anger among soldiers over orders to halt fire in southern Lebanon, with claims that the instruction reached troops in the afternoon while IDF forces were near one of Hezbollah’s key command centers in the Litani area.
