Teen Killed in Hit-and-Run During Slichot Event in Hadera
A 17-year-old youth from the Samaria region was killed in a hit-and-run incident at the "Village" shopping complex in Hadera on Tuesday night. The youth and his friends had gathered at the complex's parking lot for a Slichot (penitential prayers) event. A dispute erupted between the youth and his friends and a truck driver who was unloading merchandise at the location. The driver, identified as a resident of the village of Kafr Mandi, struck the teenager with his vehicle and fled the scene. One of the victim's friends then fired a shot, lightly wounding the driver as he continued to flee.
The driver was apprehended in the Central District after the fatal collision. The Shin Bet security agency was initially involved in the investigation, considering the possibility of a nationalistically motivated attack (Pah'a). However, by Wednesday morning, authorities determined the incident to be criminal in nature.
