The main wave of cooler, wetter weather will hit on Friday, bringing a noticeable drop in temperature from Thursday's heat. While most areas will experience brief, light rain, Western Galilee, the northern coast, and the Sharon region could receive up to 15 mm. This is considered a substantial amount for mid-September, a month that is typically dry in Israel with only a few millimeters of rain recorded annually in many locations. Meteorologists emphasize that this is not the start of the rainy season, as the weather system is expected to pass quickly. This event follows a series of unusual late-summer rains, including about 30 mm in the Jerusalem area in mid-August and another 10 mm in central regions later that month. The contrast will be stark after Thursday's high temperatures, which were above seasonal norms in the mountains and inland areas, with the coast experiencing intense heat. The cool, windy, and rainy spell is temporary, and meteorologists note that the transition from summer to autumn in Israel often involves significant temperature fluctuations, meaning warm weather could return after this brief episode.
