Israel Braces for More Unusual September Rains
The Israeli Meteorological Service has announced that another short rain event is expected on Friday, affecting northern and central Israel. This follows unusually heavy August rains, which saw approximately 30 mm fall in the Jerusalem area and about 10 mm in central Israel late in the month. While many areas will experience light rainfall, the Western Galilee, northern coast, and Sharon regions could see up to 15 mm of rain over short periods on Friday.
The Meteorological Service described these September rainfall amounts as significantly higher than average for the month, which typically sees only a few millimeters. Forecasters also predict additional rain events in the coming weeks, particularly in October, based on long-range models.
Temperatures are expected to remain high across the country, with forecasts including Eilat at 30-41°C, Jerusalem at 20-32°C, and Tel Aviv at 23-31°C.
