ChatGPT Advertising Platform Now Available to Israeli Businesses
OpenAI has officially launched its advertising platform for Israeli users, allowing businesses in the country to run promotional campaigns on ChatGPT. Natural Intelligence, an Israeli digital advertising firm operating comparison sites Top10.com and BestMoney, is among the first companies globally to gain access to the beta phase of this new advertising capability.
Natural Intelligence has been involved in the platform since its closed beta, reportedly achieving nearly 100 million ad impressions across approximately 50 categories. Within weeks, the company became one of the top five advertisers on ChatGPT and the largest financial advertiser on the platform. Their campaigns cover areas such as car insurance, banking, loans, mortgages, streaming, SaaS, and B2B services. According to the company, their conversion rates are approximately 60% of those achieved on Google.
Hila Gil, Chief Marketing Officer at Natural Intelligence, stated that the arrival of ChatGPT advertising in Israel happened sooner than expected. She described chat interfaces as decision-making environments, differentiating conversational advertising from traditional search models. "Conversational advertising is not Google 2.0, it is a new layer in the consumer journey," Gil said.
The ChatGPT advertising feature was first introduced in the U.S. in February 2026, following an announcement in January about integrating ads for both free and Go tier users. The pilot program was later expanded to other countries including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, India, and European Union member states. By September 2026, OpenAI surpassed an annual revenue run rate of $1 billion from advertising, roughly six months after its launch.
Advertisements appear in a separate box marked "Sponsored" below the AI's response, not integrated within it. OpenAI asserts that the ad system is separate from the language model, ensuring ads do not influence ChatGPT's answers. Advertisers provide general contextual instructions and multiple ad variations, with the system selecting which ads to display based on relevance, rather than choosing keywords or placement times. The system includes user protections, prohibiting ads for users under 18 and avoiding sensitive topics like medical or political issues. Ads are also withheld during highly sensitive conversations, such as those involving distress or crisis. Current ad formats include text and images, with pricing displayed for products. OpenAI also filters out vague or aggressive advertising.
