Israeli Coach Mody Maor Joins Dallas Mavericks as Assistant
Israeli basketball coach Mody Maor has officially been appointed as an assistant coach for the NBA's Dallas Mavericks. The team announced its coaching staff for the 2026-27 season on Friday, with Maor joining Dusty May's staff. Maor, 40, previously coached in New Zealand and Japan, most recently leading Nagasaki to its first-ever championship and the best regular-season record in club history. He had previously served as an assistant coach for the New Zealand Breakers under Dan Shamir before becoming their head coach. Maor had initially agreed to join May's staff at the University of Michigan in May, but followed May to Dallas after May was hired as the Mavericks' head coach. Quincy Acy will also continue as part of the Mavericks' coaching staff.
