Lt. Col. Dor Gidalia Ben Shimon, 32, from Beit HaShita, and three additional Givati Brigade soldiers whose names have not yet been cleared for publication were killed overnight, between Thursday and Friday, in southern Lebanon. The four were hit by a Hezbollah explosive drone. Since the ceasefire in Lebanon took effect in April, 23 soldiers and one civilian employee of the Defense Ministry have been killed in southern Lebanon.
The previous day, Reserve Master Sgt. Alexander Filin, 29, from Haifa, a fighter in Division 36 headquarters, was killed in combat in southern Lebanon after an explosive device was triggered against the command post of the division’s deputy commander. Seven other IDF soldiers were wounded in that incident, three moderately and four lightly.
Among the moderately wounded was the deputy commander of Division 36, a colonel. The article also notes earlier related deaths: Capt. Shahar Gamla was killed by a drone, Sgt. Ohad Yaari was killed by accidental gunfire, and Capt. Eitan Shmuel Lamberg was killed in southern Lebanon by an anti-tank missile.
