The IDF said it carried out a major overnight strike campaign in southern Lebanon, destroying more than 80 Hezbollah headquarters, launch positions and other terror assets. According to the military, dozens of militants were killed in the attacks, which were launched in response to what it called repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement by Hezbollah.
The strikes hit Hezbollah infrastructure in the Nabatieh area and several other locations inside and beyond the security zone in southern Lebanon. The army said that during the operation, militants operating inside those sites were killed. In a separate set of strikes, the IDF also hit two Hezbollah headquarters in the Bekaa region while fighters were still inside them.
The military said its ground and air activity in the southern Lebanon security zone is continuing, with a special focus on dismantling the underground strategic infrastructure Hezbollah has built over years in the Beaufort area. The operation comes amid a series of serious incidents in recent days in which IDF soldiers were hurt by Hezbollah drone attacks and fire.
Earlier in the day, the military cleared for publication that four IDF soldiers, including the commander of Battalion 52, were killed in fighting in Lebanon. During the night, the IDF also identified a Hezbollah rocket launch against its forces in southern Lebanon. In a rapid response, it killed two militants fleeing the launch area on an motorcycle, then destroyed the launcher used in the attack. The army said the strikes show its ability to detect and respond quickly to threats in real time, and that operations will continue as long as Hezbollah keeps violating the agreement and endangering Israeli troops and civilians.
