Fatal Crash on Highway 762 Leaves One Dead, Two Injured
A man in his 30s was killed and a woman in her 40s was seriously injured in a severe road accident on Highway 762 near Rekhasim and Kiryat Tivon on Tuesday evening. The woman was extricated from one of the vehicles and transported to Rambam Hospital in Haifa, suffering from abdominal and lower limb injuries. Initial reports from Magen David Adom (MDA) described her condition as serious, though police and fire services stated it was moderate. Two other individuals sustained minor injuries and were also evacuated.
According to the fire department, three vehicles were involved. One sustained minor damage, another was severely damaged, and the third vehicle was split in half, with one section falling into a four-meter-deep ditch. Firefighters used specialized equipment to descend into the ditch, where the man, trapped in the vehicle section, was found without signs of life. His death was pronounced at the scene.
An MDA paramedic, Avi Boyar, described the scene as "a very severe car accident." He detailed the rescue of the woman and the condition of the man. Fire teams conducted extensive searches of the surrounding area to ensure no other individuals were involved.
Traffic accident investigators from the Asher region and police from Kiryat Ata are collecting evidence and have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the fatal crash.
