Israel Seizes Iranian Weapons Cache, Destroys Hezbollah Tunnels Near Lebanon Border

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Friday that the Israeli military had seized a significant cache of weapons, including anti-aircraft guns, rockets, mines, and computers, from the Al-Taher heights near the Lebanese border. Netanyahu stated the weapons were sent and funded by Iran over several years. Concurrently, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant reported that the Israeli military had destroyed tunnels in the same Al-Taher heights, which he described as a Hezbollah stronghold on the front lines. These tunnels reportedly contained ammunition and weapons.

Gallant further elaborated that Israeli forces conducted operations within Lebanese territory to neutralize threats from raids and direct fire targeting Israeli towns. He affirmed that troops are continuing to dismantle tunnels and facilities that Israel claims were used by Hezbollah. The Defense Minister also highlighted the establishment of an "unprecedented fortified security zone" stretching from the coast to the Sheik Mountain area, signaling Israel's readiness to continue operations against Hezbollah and other armed groups.

In a separate statement, Palestinian Authority intelligence chief Majed Faraj suggested that Hamas should apologize to Palestinians for the "disaster" that befell them after October 7th before re-engaging in political life. This statement comes amidst ongoing regional tensions and military operations.
