Israel Destroys Hezbollah Infrastructure, Warns Iran of Full War

Israel has completed a significant operation in southern Lebanon, destroying Hezbollah's underground infrastructure on the Al-Taher ridge and organizing the security zone. This action, described as a severe blow to the terrorist organization, also targets Tehran, as the infrastructure was built over two decades with Iranian funding and planning. According to the IDF, the tunnels were intended to serve as a base for conquering the Galilee and acted as a nerve center for Hezbollah's Badr unit. IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effi Drorin stated that the tunnels contained weapons manufactured in Iran, further proving Hezbollah's role as an Iranian proxy.

The operation comes at a sensitive time, just before the High Holidays, with Israel on high alert across multiple fronts, particularly concerning potential escalation with Iran. This is compounded by Iran's efforts to rebuild its military capabilities and new U.S. threats against its nuclear program. Reuters reported that Iran had previously warned the U.S. against Israeli actions at Al-Taher, but Israel proceeded with the operation.

Simultaneously, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a direct threat to Iran regarding activity detected at Pickaxe Mountain, a fortified site near the Natanz nuclear facility. Trump warned Iran against provocative steps, stating the U.S. might attack the site if activity continues, adding, "I suggest Iran not play games, because we will have to hit them very hard."

Adding to the tension, reports indicate Iran has resumed ballistic missile production using existing components and underground facilities, with efforts to establish new underground assembly points. The International Atomic Energy Agency has also warned of difficulties in monitoring Iran's nuclear material, as the U.S. and European nations increase pressure on Tehran.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that Israel will not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons. In a joint statement with Defense Minister Israel Katz, the Iranian connection to the Al-Taher complex was emphasized, and Israel's commitment to continue operating against Hezbollah's rebuilding efforts in Lebanon was affirmed. The IDF spokesperson concluded by stating Israel would continue to operate along all borders to protect its citizens.

While there is no public indication of an immediate Iranian response, the accumulation of events, Israel's destruction of a strategic asset, Iran's missile program, U.S. threats, and Israel's heightened alert, creates a volatile situation. Senior Israeli officials have sent unambiguous messages: any Iranian attack will trigger a major war, not just a limited response, with Israel threatening to destroy Iran's energy infrastructure rapidly. A security assessment at the Kirya resulted in maintaining the highest level of alert for both defensive and offensive readiness.
