Top Hamas Commander in Khan Younis Killed in Israeli Airstrike
Hamas announced the death of Mohammed Al-Yazouri, commander of its Qassam Brigades' Khan Younis battalion, in an Israeli airstrike that targeted him shortly before midnight. Al-Yazouri assumed command of the Khan Younis brigade after the July 2024 killing of Rafiq Salameh, who was targeted along with Qassam Brigades leader Mohammed Deif in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis. Al-Yazouri was considered a prominent leader within the Qassam Brigades and had previously survived assassination attempts.
Also killed in the strike was Huzaifa Abu Muammar, described as a military engineer for the Qassam Brigades. In a separate Israeli airstrike, Mohammed Abu Labda, a Qassam Brigades commander in Rafah, was also killed.
