IDF Eliminates Hamas Khan Yunis Brigade Commander in Gaza
Israel conducted a targeted airstrike in the Gaza Strip overnight between Thursday and Friday, eliminating Mohammed al-Yazouri, identified as the commander of Hamas's Khan Yunis brigade. Al-Yazouri is described as one of the senior Hamas officials remaining in the Gaza Strip following repeated strikes against the organization's leadership.
The previous day, Israel eliminated another militant, Farah Hamed, in Gaza. Hamed was responsible for the murder of the husband of Knesset Member Limor Son Har-Melech during the Second Intifada and was later released in the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal. The IDF stated that Hamed had recently advanced terror plans in the West Bank and was part of the 'West Bank Staff' infrastructure, participating in combat against IDF forces during the recent war.
According to the IDF, Hamed was involved in numerous significant attacks in the Binyamin region, resulting in the deaths and injuries of Israeli civilians. He also participated in a deadly shooting attack in Ein Yabrud in October 2003, which claimed the lives of three IDF soldiers: Sergeant Elad Pollak, Sergeant Roey Yaakov Solomon, and First Sergeant Erez Idan.
