IDF Eliminates Hamas Khan Yunis Brigade Commander in Gaza
Israel conducted a targeted airstrike in the Gaza Strip overnight between Thursday and Friday, eliminating Mohammed al-Yazouri, identified as the commander of Hamas's Khan Yunis brigade. Al-Yazouri is described as one of the senior Hamas officials remaining in the Strip, following repeated strikes against the organization's top leadership.
The previous day, Israel also eliminated Fatah Hamed, a terrorist responsible for the murder of the husband of Knesset member Limor Son Har-Melech during the Second Intifada. Hamed, who was released in the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal, had served as a senior figure in the 'West Bank Staff' infrastructure and participated in fighting against IDF forces during the recent conflict.
According to the IDF spokesperson, Hamed had promoted terror plans in Judea and Samaria in recent years, was part of the 'Silwad' cell, and carried out several significant attacks in the Benjamin region, resulting in the deaths and injuries of Israeli civilians. He also participated in a shooting attack in Ein Yabrud in October 2003, which killed three IDF soldiers: Sergeant Elad Pollak, Sergeant Roey Yaakov Solomon, and First Sergeant Erez Idan.
