Tens of Thousands Gather in Uman for Annual 'General Rectification' Prayer
Tens of thousands of pilgrims have arrived in Uman, Ukraine, via connecting flights from across Europe, to participate in the annual gathering at the tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov for the Rosh Hashanah holiday. This year, the event, known as the 'Global General Rectification,' will take place on Friday, September 4, 2024, at 12:00 PM.
The central event will see tens of thousands congregating near Rabbi Nachman's tomb to collectively recite the ten Psalms designated as the 'General Rectification.' Simultaneously, hundreds of thousands of Jews worldwide are expected to join the prayer through live broadcasts, prayer centers, and phone lines.
Organizers report unprecedented interest from across the Jewish world, with many seeking to unite in prayer for the new year, hoping for blessings and the imminent redemption. Last year, over 55,000 people participated in the Uman gathering alone. The event is seen as a significant moment of spiritual awakening and unity for the Jewish people.
