Three Arrested in Military Base Arms Trafficking Ring
Israeli authorities have uncovered a serious arms trafficking operation, leading to the arrest of three suspects, including a soldier serving at a military base in northern Israel. The investigation, a joint effort by the Coastal District's Central Unit and the Northern District of the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division, culminated in both covert and overt operations.
Two civilian suspects were brought before the Haifa Magistrate's Court for a hearing on extending their detention, while the soldier appeared before a military court. The military court is expected to extend the soldier's detention until next Wednesday to allow for further investigation.
Upon completion of the investigation, all findings will be transferred to the prosecution for review. Police and the Military Police emphasized their continued commitment to combating the illicit transfer of military weapons to unauthorized individuals, citing the acute danger this poses to public safety and its potential use in serious criminal activities.
