Apple Unveils First Foldable iPhone Duo, Alongside New iPhone 18 Pro Models

After years of speculation, Apple has officially entered the foldable phone market with the introduction of the iPhone Duo. The device features an external 5.4-inch screen and unfolds to reveal a larger 7.6-inch internal display. Early impressions highlight a premium build quality and, notably, a lack of a visible crease in the screen, a common issue with foldable phones. The iPhone Duo is powered by the A20 Pro chip, shares the same chip as the new iPhone 18 Pro series, and has a split battery. It incorporates Touch ID on the side button instead of Face ID, will support the Apple Pencil in the future, and will be sold globally with eSIM only. The camera system utilizes the foldable design, allowing the external screen to act as a viewfinder for the person being photographed. The iPhone Duo will start at $1,999 for 256GB of storage, with a 2TB option available. Pre-orders begin October 16th, with delivery starting October 23rd. Pricing and availability for Israel are not yet announced.

Alongside the foldable, Apple also launched the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. These models retain a similar design to their predecessors, available in black, silver, light blue, and burgundy. The Dynamic Island has been made smaller, and Face ID remains. A significant camera upgrade includes the first mechanical variable aperture on an iPhone's main 48-megapixel sensor, allowing for better light control in various shooting conditions. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 and the Pro Max at $1,299, both with 256GB of base storage and a new 2TB option. Sales begin September 18th, with Israel expected to be in the first launch wave, though local pricing is unconfirmed.
