Teenager Sentenced to 13 Years for Terrorist Rock Attack Killing Palestinian Mother

A Central District Court in Lod has sentenced a resident of the Benjamin region, who was a minor at the time of the offense, to 13 years in prison for the vehicular manslaughter of Aisha Rabi. The court convicted the defendant of murder under circumstances of terrorism, finding that he hurled a 2-kilogram rock at Rabi's car on Route 60 out of nationalistic motives, causing her death. The court fully adopted the prosecution's stance, imposing a lengthy prison sentence and the maximum statutory compensation of 258,000 shekels to Rabi's family.

The incident occurred in 2018 when the then-16-year-old defendant and others positioned themselves at a vantage point overlooking Route 60 with the intent to target Arab-driven vehicles. Upon identifying Rabi's car, the defendant threw a large rock that penetrated the windshield and fatally struck Rabi in the head. She was pronounced dead shortly after at the hospital.

The prosecution emphasized that the court sent a clear message regarding the severity of the act, which was a clear act of terrorism motivated by nationalism against an innocent civilian. Despite the defendant's age at the time of the offense, the prosecution argued for a significant sentence due to the lethal nature of the act and its tragic outcome, a position the judges accepted.

The Ministry of Justice noted that due to the defendant's age at the time of the incident, there is a gag order preventing the publication of any identifying details, and the full verdict has not yet been released to the public.
