Israel's Population Reaches 10.3 Million Amid Natural Growth
Israel's population has reached 10.3 million people, according to the latest annual demographic report from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). The primary driver of this growth is a natural increase, with 182,000 births compared to 50,000 deaths over the past year. This net natural increase of 132,000 residents has offset migration losses.
Despite the natural growth, Israel experienced a negative migration balance in 2025. More than 69,000 Israelis left the country, while only about 19,000 former residents returned, and approximately 21,000 new immigrants arrived. As of the end of 2025, the total population was 10.203 million, with 9.916 million permanent residents excluding foreign nationals.
Economically, 27.4% of residents report difficulties covering monthly expenses. However, life satisfaction remains high, with 91.1% of Israelis over 20 years old expressing satisfaction with their lives, and 66.1% viewing their economic situation positively. The education sector includes approximately 1.99 million schoolchildren and 303,000 university and college students.
The CBS cautions that changes in data collection methods following the 2022 census mean direct comparisons of some indicators with earlier periods should be made with care.
